Conveyor Screen, Belt and Chain Cleaning
In today's mechanized world, industrial conveyors of all different types and sizes are used to move goods and products from various stages of production through to completion. Conveyors get dirty with grease, wax, proteins, syrups, glue, resins, paint, carbon and other build-up depending on the process. This prevents the equipment from operating at peak efficiency. Unfortunately, traditional manual cleaning methods (e.g., scraping and brushing) are time consuming, ineffective and costly. Some involve significant amounts of chemicals and resulting waste streams. We've found that both dry ice blasting and ultra high-pressure water blasting with low flow offer superior cleaning processes that reduce cleaning time by up to 80%, eliminate secondary waste streams and result in a significant reduction in overall cleaning costs.
Dry Ice Blasting is an environmentally-friendly process that uses recycled CO2 in the form of dry ice pellets. The pellets are accelerated at fast speeds using compressed air. The combination of the velocity and the extreme cold of the dry ice removes the contaminants from the surface of the conveyor (and the chains and belts that move them). Once the dry ice strikes the surface, it subliminates, leaving nothing to clean up except the removed contaminants. Dry ice blasting is also non-abrasive and non-conductive, which means blasting can be done without having to worry about wear and tear on equipment or damaging electronic components. Dry ice blasting has also been effectively used in EPA, FDA and USDA inspected facilities.
Ultra High-Pressure Water Blasting uses ultra high-pressure (pressures up to 40,000 psi) and low flow (one to two gallons of water per minute) to remove build-up from the conveyor surface. The combination of ultra high-pressure and low flow allow for an extremely effective clean that can be easily controlled using simple water management techniques.
Whether it's a conveyor chain in an automotive paint shop, a conveyor belt in a fiberglass manufacturing plant or conveyor screen in a food plant/commercial bakery, they can all be cleaned faster and better than ever before.
Hydro Abrasive Products builds custom, automated dry ice and ultra high-pressure water blast cleaning systems that allow conveyors to be cleaned without shutting down production and allocating extensive resources. These systems provide an effective, environmentally-friendly cleaning method that will both reduce labor and time, as well as, maintain a safe, clean production environment.
Fixture, Carrier and Die Cleaning
High-pressure water or dry ice blasting systems provide quick, effective solutions to fixture, carrier and die cleaning problems. Unlike manual cleaning, which requires significant time and effort, and other methods that require considerable heat or caustic chemicals, both water jetting and dry ice blasting are more efficient, less costly and better for the environment.
High-pressure water and dry ice blasting are widely used to remove build-up on fixtures, skids, carriers and dies across a variety of industries (e.g., Automotive, Polycarbonate Lens and Molded-Pulp product manufacturing to name a few). The versatility of high-pressure water or dry ice, and related hardware, make it ideal for many applications.
Hydro Abrasive Products can design, build and advise on a custom system for your specific application. Strategically-mounted nozzle assemblies maximize speed and efficiency, while robotically-mounted nozzle assemblies add flexibility where needed. A typical system combines a high-pressure water pump or dry ice blasting unit, cabinet, nozzle device, parts handling equipment and special air blow-off stations.

Investment Casting Shell Removal
Removing ceramic shell (investment) without damaging valuable castings can be challenging and time-consuming with manual chipping, chemicals, pneumatic knockout (hammering) or pressure washing (e.g., pressure washer blasting at 5,000 psi or less). The more intricate the casting shape, the bigger the problem.
High-pressure water jets, usually operating at 10,000 psi or higher, can cut through the investment shell in a fraction of the time compared to other methods. High-pressure water jets cut cleanly through the hard investment, but leave the casting unscathed. Usually, precision nozzles are mounted on a programmable robotic arm or linear traversing device, providing more thorough coverage and significantly higher productivity.
A typical system combines a high-pressure water pump unit, cabinet, rotating nozzle assembly, parts handling equipment and parts holding fixtures. Hydro Abrasive Products can design, build and advise on a custom system for your specific application.

Deflashing
Want to completely remove flash from plastic- or rubber-molded parts, without the risk of damage? Flash left on molded parts not only suggests poor quality, but can also cause manufacturing delays or serious problems down the road if it breaks off inside a critical component or system.
High-pressure water jetting removes excess material faster and cleaner than grinding or manual methods, then washes away the debris. The process can even remove material in areas not reachable by mechanical methods.
A typical system combines a high-pressure water pump, cabinet, actuated cleaning tool (e.g., rotating nozzle assembly mounted to a robot), parts handling equipment and part holding fixtures. Hydro Abrasive Products can design, build and advise on a custom system for your specific application.
